Pictures of the hair cuts

Here are some pictures of the girls after their hair cuts. Logan felt left out as I was taking the pictures so you get to see his current hair style as well. He gets his cut by mom and dad more often than the girls. The girls are enjoying their new hair cuts.

A day in my life with Ainsley...

Madison has been asking me for a hair cut for a while and I finally decided it was time. So I took the girls yesterday to get their hair cut. I knew Madison wanted it really short but Ainsley did not want it short. She specifically told me she did not want it too short, she wanted to be able to have pony tails still.

We get to Great Clips and I inform the stylist that Ainsley will only be having 2 inches off. They started on Ainsley and then they took Madison to another chair and started on her. When Ainsley was done, (and the place had filled up of people waiting), she came up to me very sad and told me that she wanted her hair short like Madison. We discussed this for a while and I had to go ask them to put us on the waiting list to get her hair cut again.

They fit us in quickly and I felt so bad for all the people waiting and they both got their hair cut really short. (I will post pictures soon). After an hour of trying to entertain Logan and please my daughters, we finally get in to the car and on the drive home I hear Ainsley say,

"I do not want my hair short. I want it long like the first cut." Well.....

Then we get home and I let them have cereal for a snack before bed. I ask them all what they wanted and they all wanted Frosted Flakes. I poured the cereal and then the milk and then I hear Ainsley say,

"I did not want Frosted Flakes, I wanted Rice Krispies!"

To this, Madison replies "Ainsley! You get what you get and you don't throw a fit! Right Mom!!!"

Right Madison. Thanks. Oh, my darling-sweet-adorable Ainsley!!! Isn't she too cute for words? Will it be like this for the rest of her life???

When you should believe your daughter...

I learned a long time ago that I can be an oblivious mom. When I took Madison in to her kindergarden exam, they informed me that she cannot see out of her left eye. She had always been able to watch TV, color, do puzzles, etc... I had no idea she could not see well. It turns out she had a contact prescription of +12.00 in her left eye and +9.5 in her right eye. CRAZY!!! We were so excited when she started wearing contacts but a month ago, she did not want to wear them anymore. She was telling me she could not see well with them and that it was time to get her eyes checked. We had just had them checked in September for her annual exam so I did not take her request that seriously. I told her that maybe the contacts are dirty and we will use a new pair. We tried that and she said she still did not like them. I decided to finally take her in and her prescription has changed for the better! It is now +8.25 in the left eye and +7.50 in her right eye. Can you believe it! Poor thing was having a hard time seeing with contacts and glasses because they were too strong for her. I am learning more and more that my kids might not always be doing things for attention and may actually have a valid reason for asking for things. (some of the time:)

My Sick Girls

We went to a friends house last night to drop off some things and there was a basket full of unopened toys there. My girls were obsessed, of course, and immediately wanted the barbies opened for them. My friend's mom explained to the girls that the toys were for sick kids in the hospital that do not have a lot of toys to play with. Madison quickly replies, "My brother and sister are sick. They have been coughing a lot lately." My friends mom tried to talk to them about "really sick" kids with leukemia in the hospital. The girls were still very bummed about not getting the toys. I do not think they really cared about the sick kids in the hospital at all- I am sure they were thinking, "so these sick kids are why I cannot have this Barbie right now!"

Later on the way home, I hear Ainsley pouting in the back of the car and say, "I wish I was sick in the hospital so I can get new barbies!" What??? Life really is all about them isn't it?!

My Party Animal

I let the girls watch "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" with me and they LOVED it. When we got to this party scene (click to watch it), Madison says "YA! THIS IS MY KIND PARTY!!!" What??? Who is this girl?

Discussions I was not ready for...

This morning on the way to the gym, Madison says,

"Mom, when you turn 20 that must be the saddest day of your life." I asked why and she says, "Because you have to move out of your parents house."

I told her that was not true. I went on to explain that some leave the house at 18 to go to college, others at 21 to go on missions. I ended with telling her that some do not leave their parents home until they are married or eventually kicked out.

Madison replied, "who decides when you get to leave the house?" I answered, "You and Mommy and Daddy decide when you leave the house." She then said, "Can you talk to daddy today for me and tell him I do not want to leave your house until I am married?" Sure, Madison, I will get right on that.

After that fun conversation, Ainsley decides to tell me this:

"Mom, I am very sad today." "Why are you sad Ainsley?" "I am sad because my boyfriend will not be at the gym today. I have not seen him in a really long time and I miss him so much!"

Madison and Infomercials

Madison memorizes everything she hears on infomercials. This morning she was trying to keep a blanket around her while she was eating breakfast and it was not working. She then says,"Mom, I saw on TV that they have a blanket with holes in it for your head and hands so it stays on you nice and cozy. It comes in red and green, I think. I am not sure how expensive it is but it is perfect for those chilly outings or windy nights. I really think we need to get one to have here at the house. Don't you mom?"

Ya, definately Madison. I will get right on that. I think I would look really cool!

Crock-Pot Cake

I have been craving this so much lately and I realized I never posted it. This makes your house smell incredible and you get to have a perfect warm piece of cake. Make sure you have whipped cream, cool whip, or ice cream with it- it is rich and delicious.

1 pkg. Devils food cake
1 pkg. Chocolate pudding (3.9 oz)
2 cups sour cream
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup water
1 cup chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together except the chocolate chips, beat on low 30 seconds then on medium for 2 minutes. Add chocolate chips and mix. Pour into a greased crock pot. High: 3-3 1/2 hours; Low 6-7 hours.

WW Balsamic Chicken with Mushrooms

We had this tonight and it was really, really good. The kids LOVED it and they never like whatever I cook. It is so easy. If you do not like mushrooms, do not do the mushroom part with the chicken broth and thyme. If you like mushrooms, they are really good on chicken and some rice. YUM!!! Oh...Allyson- these are only 3 points per serving!

2 tsp vegetable oil
3 TBS balsamic vinegar
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 large garlic clove
1 pound uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breast, four 4 oz pieces. (I actually did chicken tenders. The kids like those better.)
2 cups mushrooms, small sliced
1/3 cup canned chicken broth
1/4 tsp dried thyme, crumbled

In a skillet, heat 1 tsp oil.

In a medium bowl, mix 2 TBS of vinegar, the mustard and garlic. Add chicken and turn to coat.

Transfer chicken and marinade to skillet. Saute' chicken until cooked through, about 3 minutes on each side. Transfer chicken to a platter and keep warm.

heat remaining teaspoon of oil in skillet. Saute mushrooms for 1 minute. Add broth, thyme and remaining TBS of vinegar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are deep brown, about 2 minutes longer.

Serve chicken topped with mushrooms.

Weight Watchers Update!!!

I am so excited to be able to update that in 1 month I have lost 14.2 pounds!!! I cannot believe it and I feel great. I plan on staying with this until April 15th so I am very curious where I will end up. Here are the things I am most thankful for right now:

1. Broadstone Raquetclub Childcare!!! I am so spoiled to be able to go and work out each day with my kids in a safe fun area to play. They love it and I love it! I also LOVE seeing all my work out buddies there. It helps me get through the day to have some adult interaction.

2. Fiber One- the bars are great and the cereals are so yummy!

3. Crystal Light- I LOVE Crystal Light. I am not a water fan so I love drinking a lot of crystal light each day. The To-Go packs are awesome.

4. Sugar Free Jello and Pudding- This helps me so much get through the day with a light whip cream on top. Yummy!

5. Quaker Rice Snacks- The Carmel corn ones are the best.

6. Kettle Corn- I LOVE this snack when I need it.

7. Progresso 0 point soups- thank goodness for these.

8. Omelets- I love my omelets.

9. Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches

10. Healthy Choice Fudge Bars

11. My smaller American Eagle Jeans! I bought them last month in hopes that I could wear them...they fit!

12. My husband for being a good sport through all of this. I know he hates it, but he is proud of me and excited for me.

I could put a lot more but that is what is on my mind right now. Thanks to all of you for all the support. It helps to know people care.
